Copake Camping Resort History
Copake Camping Resort has a very interesting history. The property was originally owned by the Astor family of Waldorf Astoria fame. They had a mansion on the property which unfortunately has long since been torn down. The foyer was rumored to have silver dollars imbedded in the marble floor. We have found chunks of marble on the property but no silver dollars. They had several mentally handicapped children and so they decided to turn the property into a children's camp for these special children. About forty years ago it was sold and turned into a campground.

We have over 150 spacious Full-hookup sites (W/E/S) available for overnight camping with 30 or 50 amp service, WI-FI and Cable TV. They are a mixture of back-in and pull-thru sites. We do also offer seasonal sites where you can bring your rig and stay the entire season. Many of our seasonals have several family members or friends with trailers near their own. Tent sites are conveniently located near our bathhouses. We even have a few deluxe tent sites with electric, water, cable tv and a charcoal grill.
