Copake KOA History


Copake KOA was originally developed as a Gentleman's farm for Henry Astor of the famous Astor family of Waldorf Astoria fame. They had a Victorian mansion on the property which unfortunately has long since been torn down.

Camping Options

We have over 150 spacious Big Rig Friendly Full-hookup sites (W/E/S) available for overnight camping with 30 or 50 amp service, WI-FI and Cable TV. They are a mixture of back-in and pull-thru sites. We offer a choice of sunny or shady sites.The majority of the sites in the campground are shady. Let us help you pick the perfect site for you.

Tent sites with Water and Electric, or just Water are conveniently located near our bathhouses. Every Site has it's own picnic table and fire ring.

Groups are welcome at our campground! We can often times place you all together with advanced notice. However, you do need to reserve a group. Make sure to have a designated group leader who will be responsible for all bookings.

We do also offer seasonal sites where you can bring your rig and stay the entire season. Seasonal rates start at $2675 for 2012.

Need Storage? We do offer spaces in our storage area for boats and RVs starting at $75 dollars per month depending on the size of your unit.

Cabins are large one room Cabins which sleep up to five, including a queen size bed. Each Cabin includes a microwave, small refrigerator, breakfast bar and cable TV hookup, as well as air conditioning. There is a charcoal grill for cooking outside and a water spigot. Please bring your own linens and cooking items. These units require a $50 cash security / cleaning deposit upon check-in which is cheerfully refunded upon check-out, provided you leave it in the same condition as you found it.

Deluxe Cabins (Lodges) have a full bath and sleep four, including a queen size bed. Deluxe Cabins include a kitchen with a microwave, refrigerator, a nice table set for four as well as a Flat Screen TV with cable TV hookup. Cooking is done outside on a charcoal grill. Please bring your own linens and cooking items. These units are heated and air conditioned. A $100 cash security / cleaning deposit is required upon check-in. Deposits are cheerfully refunded upon check-out, provided you leave it in the same condition as you found it.


Facilities and Amenities

Our Facilities and Amenities here at Copake KOA are top notch. Our campground is a Presidential Award Winning KOA and we are rated 5W/5W by Woodalls, their highest rating.

Wi-Fi service is available throughout the park and provided for free for all of our overnight campers. Free expanded Cable TV is available at all of our full-hookup campsites.

Our heated pool is in three sections, which includes a kiddie pool which is 18 inches deep, a three foot section, and a deep section which goes to 9 feet. You swim at your own risk in our pool. Two adults must be present in the pool area for the pool to be used. The pool is open from Memorial Day to Labor Day.

Our Laundry is open 24 hours a day and has folding tables and an ironing board, as well as vending machines and a coin changer. We have lots of current magazines to read if you want to sit and wait for your laundry to be done. If not, please be observant of the time to wash and dry so you can pick it up in a timely fashion so others can use the machines.

Our bathrooms are sparkling clean, modern, have free private hot showers with dressing areas. Baby changing stations are available in the arcade bathroom and the handicapped bathroom.

Our recreational amenities include: game room, adult lounge, recreation hall, craft room and rainy day play room, a full size basketball court, volleyball, horseshoes, sports field, tennis courts, and playground. For our canine friends we have a Kamp K-9 off leash pet play area.

We have a propane station where we fill propane tanks as well as motor homes. Propane can be filled between 9AM to 12PM Daily or by appointment.

Meal service is available weekends and holidays.

Our Country Store is fully stocked with everything you need to go camping. If you forgot something we have it! We have RV supplies, toiletries, medicines and household needs. We also have many souvenir and gift items. Onsite ATM, Fresh Coffee and Hot Cocoa, Breakfast items, Ice, Groceries, Dairy Products, Soda, Cigarettes, Beer, Ice cream, Snacks, Toys, Unique Gift Items and Firewood. You cannot bring your own firewood due to New York State DEC regulations in place to stop the spread of various devastating tree diseases. There is a large fine if you are caught bringing your own firewood.
